Meeting Reminder – 26th May

Our next meeting is this Friday so  look forward to seeing you all again. Continuing on with our club build nights and what new on the bench. Bring along anything you are working on for our fun show and tell.

See you there!

Big Day Out

On Saturday 6th May several club members got together to take a trip to visit Metro Hobbies, Hobby HQ and to join in a lunch at the Coldstream Brewery. Visiting a hobby shop is a great thing under any circumstances but to do it in a group is even better. Metro Hobbies has a great selection of kits and supplies and at reasonable prices so is well worth a visit. They have have two stores, one in Box Hill and the other in the Melbourne CBD in Swanston Street. Our second stop was at Hobby HQ in Thomastown, and is basically a small warehouse full of kits and items that are probably harder to get. To cap things off we enjoyed a late lunch at the Coldstream Brewery, which was awesome and was really a continuation of model talk but with great food and beer. This was a fantastic day with many kits and other goodies purchased, so look forward to the next club outing.

Meeting Reminder – 14th April

Our meeting is on again this Friday and will include our formal segment, where we raise and discuss items of interest including our Expo 2017 display!

One of our growing components is where members bring in kits to build which adds to the atmosphere and contributes to open discussions, and is also a lot of fun.

See you all there!

Wings & Tracks 2017

Over for another year and although a little quite in the way of table entries it was still a fun event.  There were several traders present including Firestorm, Brunel Hobbies and Battlefield Hobbies. The range of products and kits was welcoming as were the entries and quality of kits on the competition tables. I was lucky enough to pick up first place in my category with my HobbyBoss 1/48 Russian KV-1 competing in a tough field.

On the Bench 25

Our meeting last night only saw a few of us in attendance but it was a great little meeting. Three of us brought along builds and turned out to be a lot of fun, and for me meant 5 1/5 hours of progress on a new build being the Dragon 1/35 105mm Howitzer M2A1.

Talking about the time I put in last night that was only because I got there extra early to hold the fought. However our meeting times are not limited as such, and we have been known to go into the wee hours of the morning. This is thanks to our venue owner Chris Dowett and those he trusts to lock up after a marathon meeting/modelling session!

Here are a few pics of our display table.

Meeting Reminder – 17th March

Our meeting is on again tonight so dont forget  to bring along your builds in progress as well as any show and tell for the display table. Dont forget to also bring any projects that you may want to work on at the club work bench!

See you all there!
